Shows
Especially for the first edition of Dansdagen Haarlem last April, young choreographers with various dance styles each created a 'circle solo': a choreography danced by one dancer within an illuminated circle. This resulted in an intense and intimate dance twosome with the audience sitting in a circle around the dancer. Due to the great success of the performance, it can now also be seen during Julidans.

Two intense dance solos in a circle of light
In UNseen, Sherise Strang explores her most vulnerable side. She examines the impact of a physical scar and the emotional scars it leaves behind. It is a journey of discovery towards recognition, the desire to be seen, and embracing all facets of oneself.
-|-In Dear Future Me, award-winning creator Dalton Jansen takes you on an exciting journey to a futuristic world. Dressed in a glitter suit, Jansen enters a new universe where urban and contemporary dance converge. The choreography explores not only the limits of the physical body, but also the limits of the imagination.
The solo was commissioned by Schuur and Stadsschouwburg Haarlem with support from Province of Noord-Holland (impuls startende makers)

About Dalton Jansen
Choreographer Dalton Jansen is an alumnus of the Urban Contemporary Dance Academy in Amsterdam. He has won several prizes for his choreographies in recent years. In 2017 he won The Double Collective Games, a major international dance competition in France. In 2021 he founded his own dance company BLACK BIRDS .
