One One One
One chair, one dancer - that is the outset of One One One. The spectator becomes the focal point, while the dancers allow themselves to be inspired by the impulses of the person sitting in the chair. The dance continues for as long as there is eye contact, creating a silent but moving dialogue.
Throughout the performance, the dancers look the spectators in the eye, establishing a special connection. There is no fixed choreography; everything is art in the moment, which develops through direct interaction. In this way, the work challenges not only the performer, but also the audience, to become aware of their own physical reactions and how these relate to the movements on stage.

One One One, created in 2015 by Ioannis Mandafounis, can take place anywhere – in streets and squares, in hospitals, schools or shopping centres. The performance has been praised for its vitality, leaving both the audience and the cast breathless. It is an experience not easily forgotten, a personal and surprising new way to experience dance.
In his work, Ioannis Mandafounis explores the boundary between a dancer and their audience, where interaction, improvisation and the moment itself play the leading role. His work is spontaneous, organic and always idiosyncratic. Since 2023-2024, he has been the artistic director of the Dresden Frankfurt Dance Company, the successor to The Forsythe Company and Ballett Frankfurt. As a former dancer with William Forsythe, Mandafounis brings his love of improvisation to the group, while respecting Forsythe's innovative method.
