Since 1997, the work of EG | PC & ICK has been a recurring force within Julidans. The international festival provided a stage for their very first trilogy – Bianco, Rosso, and Extra Dry – and co-produced the award-winning Dante series, including Hell and You Paradiso. More recently, EG | PC and Julidans joined forces again for WE, the BREATH, a site-specific project in and around Space for Dance Art, created in collaboration. The Rhino Dance Marathon builds on this legacy and marks a new step in their shared history.
The Rino Dance Marathon invites you to wander through seven spaces where past and present works intertwine, continuously accessible, with no start or end. Throughout the evening, thirty markers from EG | PC’s work will resurface – not as an overview, but as active traces: video fragments, worn costumes, meaningful objects, and texts that engage the body as a site of memory. Between these, short performances, exhibitions, installations, and interventions from new creators who resonate with the DNA of ICK will appear.
-|- And the Rhino? It travels with us. The Rhino is powerful and fragile at the same time. It embodies the body that moves forward, slow but steadfast, against the current. In the site-specific performance Addio alla Fine (Holland Festival 2012), a rhinoceros is featured in a rowing boat, drifting on the water – a reference to Fellini’s film E la Nave Va, where a cruise ship filled with cultural elites slowly sinks. Only the Rhino remains, transferred into a lifeboat, drifting towards an unknown future. Not as a remnant, but as an omen.
The Rhino Dance Marathon is not just a performance, it is a movement. Step into it.
