Julidans 2023 - first choreographers announced
We are proud to announce the first names of Julidans 2023. The festival will take place from 2 — 16 July at more than 10 locations in Amsterdam - with Internationaal Theater Amsterdam as festival heart.
During Julidans 2023, we will present world premieres by choreographers Alexander Vantournhout (Belgium), Marcela Levi & Lucía Russo (Brazil) and Andreas Hannes (Greece/Netherlands). Norwegian choreographer Elle Sofe Sara was supposed to be at Julidans last year with her large-scale production Vástádus eana / The answer is land, but strikes at SAS airlines forced us to cancel the performance. We are happy to invite her again this year.
In addition, we are delighted that four Big Pulse productions will be seen at Julidans 2023. Big Pulse Dance Alliance, a partnership of 12 European dance festivals and institutions which started in 2021, aims to promote, strengthen and broaden the contemporary dance sector. Last year, the network supported a number of exciting dance productions that were made last year and are now touring internationally with great success.
Julidans presents four projects this year: the performances Navy Blue by Oona Doherty and C A R C A Ç A by Marco da Silva Ferreira. Also on the programme are two outdoor projects, for which various squares and streets in Amsterdam serve as stages: WOODS by Clarice Lima / Futura & Linha de Fuga and City Horses by Byström Källblad.
And there is much more to come! Soon, we will announce the full programme and start ticket sales. Sign up for the Julidans newsletter to be the first to know!
