ELENIT is a universe in which you can disappear completely. 'Totally mesmerising. Dance, theatre, performance, happening, installation. A work that defies comparison and that therefore is unique' - To Tetarto Koudouni.

On 2 July, after the performance, there is a post-performance talk with Euripides moderated by Jacq Algra in the Pleinfoyer.

'A brilliant attempt to understand a monstrous world.' - ElCulture

The Greek choreographer and theatre maker Euripides Laskaridis calls ELENIT a tragicomedy about the perseverance of people in doomed situations. Ten dancers are held hostage by a gigantic wind turbine, a machine that has no past and no future. All that matters is surviving in the now. Laskaridis creates a fabulous underworld full of references to painting, opera, musical and ancient tragedy, but also to contemporary club culture and film. It starts with everyday images and situations, which become increasingly absurd, mysterious, and disturbing. ELENIT is a journey through an unknown landscape; devastated and ruined, but at the same time irresistibly fascinating. 'A brilliant attempt to understand a monstrous world.' - ElCulture.

-|-In 2017, Laskaridis' TITANS was shown at the festival as a co-production of Julidans. The Greek choreographer had only been in the international spotlight for a year, but his talent was undeniable. With his international breakthrough RELIC, he performed at as many as 22 international festivals. Laskaridis learned the trade from directors such as Robert Wilson and Dimitri Papaioannou and from there developed his own style with Greek and American influences. The main theme in his work is the theme of change, transformation. Also always present: Laskaridis' sense of humour. He always presents his serious subjects with a good dose of irony. ELENIT is a masterly demonstration of that, and his first performance for a big stage.

'This performance is neurotic and comic, tragic and sarcastic. It is recognisable and at the same time distant and moving. The heroes of that world are standing on the other side, trying to persuade you to go on a journey of discovery.' - ElCulture
