STATE SHIFT: WATERBROTHERS

In the duet Waterbrothers, the dancers challenge each other in a stream of movements in which the younger brother sometimes storms past the older one. As water changes form, Lee and Roy, change their approach to the floor.

The Ruggeds have been a collective of breakers for 15 years and explore the boundaries of Breaking in the theater.

FORCE D’ÂMES

Force D'ÂMES is a female duet, showing strength through feminity and masculinity, through grace and power, through Popping and Breaking. Deydey, a former World Popping Champion, and Manuela a former World Bgirl Champion, both part of the all-female dance group Zamounda Crew, break the boundaries by combining two male-dominated dance styles to create a synergy that portrays the fight of personal struggles to find inner peace in order to inspire and lift others up.

SHAILESH BAHORAN FT. AVI KISHNA

Hip-hop dancer and choreographer Shailesh Bahoran enters into a live dialogue with the penetrating sounds of the Indian lute, the sarod, played by virtuoso musician Avi Kishna. Shailesh is an experimental maker in the urban scene with strong roots in the hip-hop culture. He is also a highly regarded choreographer in the dance world: his performance Lalla Rookh (2015) won the Dans Publieksprijs, Ignite (2017) was nominated for the Zwaan for the most impressive dance performance and with REDO (2019) they won the Zwaan for the best dance performance. As a performer, Shailesh stands out for his versatility and phenomenal technique in various styles, including breakdancing and popping. Shailesh likes to draw inspiration for his work from his Hindustani background.

Shailesh Bahoran is a theatre maker, choreographer, dancer, coach and artistic director of the Illusionary Rockaz Company. He is characterised by a free artistic vision in which he is always looking to stimulate moods and emotions in his audience and in which he emphasises contrasts. He has worked with the Dutch National Ballet, Don't Hit Mama, the Netherlands Symphony Orchestra, Codarts, Fontys, Vocaallab, Korzo, Spin off, Conny Janssen, Amsterdamse Hogeschool voor de Kunsten and ISH Dance Collective, with whom he has performed at the Burning Man Festival in Nevada and on Broadway New York, among others.

VINCENT RIEBEEK – FRAGMENT UCHRONIA

He started as an autodidact, completely free from norms and rules in dance. He only finished his formal dance training in 2018. Vincent Riebeek decided to fully embrace his status as an outsider. He makes provocative work that balances on the cutting edge of art and entertainment. He pushes the boundaries of what dance and performance can be - and thus fits in perfectly with Julidans.

Riebeek does not hesitate to draw on all possible genres, from classical ballet to circus. As he himself says, he "sneaks himself into spaces where he does not 'belong'."

For Riebeek, the idea of homelessness is liberating. Everything is possible; nothing is bound by conventions, by time or place. This is precisely the underlying theme of his new work Unchronia. The title literally means 'no time', related to the concept of utopia: 'no place'. In Unchronia, Vincent traces the origins of dance and of humanity itself, and then invents new scenarios for the existing creation stories.

Unchronia is a remake of our world. With collages and tableaux vivants, the performers invite the audience to imagine what is possible. A practice that allows us to forge the future we would like to have. Riebeek: "My intention is to create a liberating experience that is emancipating for both the audience and the performer."
