CONTEXT
'What did I actually experience just now?’ It is not unusual for performances during Julidans to raise questions and provoke thought. To offer more insight and encourage deeper engagement, Julidans organises a context programme. This includes introductions,
aftertalks and thematic discussions, which place the artists' work in a broader perspective. Be amazed by films and installations, and if you feel like moving yourself, we invite you to dance afterwards during the afterparties at ITA.
ARTIST TALKS
After many performances, we organise an
aftertalk with the maker(s). Under the guidance
of a moderator, the choreographer's motivations
and working methods are discussed, and there is room for the audience to ask questions. Visit
www.julidans.nl/context to see with whom, where
and when talks take place.
The talks are all in English. -|-
CONTEXT TALKS
When putting together the festival programme,
we look for performances that reflect the current
zeitgeist. During the festival, we are happy to
discuss these themes further and, together with
choreographers and specialists, place dance in
a broader context. Check out julidans.nl/context
to see which makers and specialists we will be
talking to and join us in the discussion!

Come dance with us! During Julidans, the ITA brasserie will be turned into a dance floor a few times after the performances. On Friday 5 July we will do so with DJ STREAMER, on Friday 12 July with the dancers of Zona Franca, and on Saturday 13 July with Club Guy & Roni.
FILM
To Rave the Racial is a film by choreographers Davi Pontes and Wallace Ferreira that we will present continuously at the ITA Salon during Julidans from 3 to 9 July. In this film, Pontes and Ferreira explore spatiality without traditional constructions of space and time. They use choreographic techniques to outline an ethical framework for Black lives that transcends time boundaries.
BOOK LAUNCH
Choreographer Femke Gyselinck (one of GRIP's artistic directors) researched the ambiguity of the form of letters, and their possible translation into movement. The result became the performance Letters 2 Dance, which was shown during Julidans 2022, and the book Character. This book was created in collaboration with photographer
Joris Kritis and supported by Julidans. You are welcome to attend the book launch at the ITA rotonde Sunday 7 July at 13:00.

WE LIVE HERE
Professionals programme
WE LIVE HERE is the annual summer academy at which Nicole Beutler makes time and space for experimentation, research and reflection. Every summer, at the end of the season, a (small) temporary community of professionals in the performing arts and beyond gather to work together, think together and immerse themselves in each other's practice. It is a full, rich and deepening week of excursions, workshops, training sessions, lectures and talks. This year's summer academy is thematically linked to the preliminary research for the new performance NOW WE ARE EARTH.
For the current programme or participation, see www.nbprojects.nl
VISITING ARTIST PROGRAMME
Professionals programme
Visiting Artist Programme is a project of Big Pulse Dance Alliance, a partnership of European dance festivals of which Julidans is part (bigpulsedancealliance.eu). From this network, nieuwe dance makers are nominated to visit Julidans. And in this way, six international choreographers are brought together with Dutch dance artists to visit performances together, meet choreographers, attend a special master class with the aim of exchanging knowledge and experience.
