WORKSHOP SKIPPING WITH ANDREAS HANNES

Since 2017, Andreas has started the practice of continuous skipping. The action of skipping is a historical, cross-cultural motion for the human body. It relates to a bodily experience that everyone knows. Our force and urge to move, to cover distance, that has originated in our childhood, in the backyards and streets of the city and has moved through folk, street and club dances, is used in this practice to excite the imagining of landscapes and relations. Skipping is an expression of vitality and aliveness of our bodies and the space.

The workshop
During the workshop, we will go through the basic training and principles of continuous skipping, researching how the equilibrium and weight works within this motion. We will practice on the beat of music in all directions and find all possible variations and links to dances we already know. We will also practice how to relate and play with other skippers in space.
Everyone is welcome at the workshop no matter their age or dance experience. Skipping is a good work out, full of repetition, without risks of hurting the knees. It gives a lot of energy back as you do it! Make sure you bring your trainers/sneakers, shorts, a water bottle and a little snack for afterwards with you!!-|-Practical information
