Workshop by Zora Snake
In the context of his new work Combat des Lianes, Zora Snake explores the duality between humankind and nature, and the impact of our ecosystem on living beings. Drawing on his immersive journey into the forests of eastern and western Cameroon — where he brought the entire artistic team with him — the choreographer revisits the rituals of the Baka communities of Cameroon, an indigenous people on the verge of disappearance. A dance of deconstructed polyphonies within bodies, each one a manifesto in its own right.
In this workshop, choreographer Zora Snake will share part of his creative process. Participants will also be invited to experiment the boundaries between dance and artistic performance, drawing on the body's resources and vital energies freed from our individual vocabularies. The workshop will further address gesture, form, space, movement and dramaturgy as "decolonial aesthetics" of dance on the African continent.
Combat des lianes: 9 - 11 juli
On July 9, 10, and 11, 2026, Zora Snake’s performance Combat des Lianes will be presented at Theater Bellevue.
